POSITION: Manager, Grants Administration (Accounting Manager II), Budget &
Grants
Administration, #8-328
DEADLINE: 1-5-99
SALARY: $3,130 - $5,105
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Provide leadership, management and supervision of grants administration staff.
Develop and maintain systems for all phases of grants/contracts administration
(proposal budgeting, accounting, reporting, federal compliance). Manage a
defined portfolio of grant funds. Provide advice and consultation on all aspects
of sponsored programs administration including development of policies and
procedures, resolution of various issues and negotiation of agreements (conflict
resolution). Research, develop and prepare special reports and perform special
projects as assigned. Represent department, division or institution on various
committees and/or at institutional, regional and national meetings. Other areas
of responsibility might include design and delivery of campus education
programs. Reorganization of this department may result in the Manager position
(Grants Office) reporting within the Finance and Operations Division.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
Requires bachelor's degree in accounting and four years of professional
accounting experience one of which must include professional accounting in a
supervisory capacity. Desire a total of seven years relevant professional
accounting experience and four additional years supervisory experience. Desire
proven ability to interpret and analyze broad guidelines, policy and legislation
and translate to operational levels. Candidates should have proven ability to
work independently and maintain effective and productive working relations.
Experience with system and report design and previous grant accounting
experience preferred. Knowledge and experience with computer technology needed.
Accounting experience in a University setting given preference. Must have
excellent interpersonal skills.
