The Grant and Contract Accounting Office at the University of Washington
in Seattle, Washington seeks an Associate Director to provide leadership
for accounting and systems personnel who handle the cash management,
compliance, reporting and invoicing functions for over $550 million in
federal, state and private grants and contracts.  Grant and Contract
Accounting is a progressive, customer service oriented organization
focused on providing quality accounting services to the research community
through teamwork and a commitment to continuous improvement of processes.

The Associate Director coordinates the daily grant and contract post-award
operations, personnel activities, budget management and payroll functions
within the Grant and Contract Accounting office and leads 40 or more
professional, classified, and bargaining unit employees.  The Associate
Director leads and participates in strategic planning, customer service
initiatives, leadership development initiatives, and continuous Quality
Improvement and interacts with sponsors, external and internal auditors
and faculty/staff.  The Associate Director also develops and presents at
training seminars and develops and implements accounting policies and
procedures in coordination with representatives from central, college and
departmental offices.

Requirements:  Bachelors degree in accounting, business, finance, or
related field is required. A CPA license or MBA are desirable.  Requires
at least four years of managerial or supervisory experience and five years
of accounting and computer experience.  Excellent interpersonal skills, a
proven ability to exercise independent judgement and excellent written and
verbal communication skills are essential.  An understanding of advanced
management concepts and practices in a TQM or Quality Improvement
environment, a thorough knowledge of grant and contract accounting at a
major research university, and fund accounting experience are desired.

Equivalent education/experience may substitute for stated requirements.

Salary:  $4,500-5,500
