Are you allowed under the guidelines to add 'prep' time for the faculty?
This works nicely if you can suport it.

*I need some help putting together a budget for teaching a short course. I'm
*used to working with research grants, where all salaries are based on the
*person's academic year base salary. I'm currently helping put together a
*budget for a grant where the faculty members involved will be teaching a 2
*week course. The PI wanted to pay each instructor $350/day for the 10
*course and 5 follow-up days. But the range of base salaries is wide --
*with daily rates ranging from $321-452. If everyone gets paid at the
*lowest rate, most end up significantly "losing $$" .
*
*Is there any way around this? I'm going to suggest that the PI put in
*extra administrative days for himself (if he can) -- but what about the rest
*of them? Are there any exceptions to the rule that salaries must be
*consistent with base pay? (This is Dept. of Education pass-through money,
*if it makes any difference).
*
*Thanks.
