Re: Ideas for SRA Annual Meeting -Reply Jennifer Morgan 16 Nov 1998 17:02 EST

That's part of the beauty of the professional meetings. We don't all have
to re-create the wheel, if our kind colleagues are willing to share (as we
do here on the list everyday!)

this sounds like a super idea. However, it might be rather daunting to
add
such a detailed task to a small office that is probably over-taxed as it
is! How much time/effort does it take? Just curious. I really think it
has great merit.

*Jennifer - At UT - El Paso we have been having "Notice of Award"
*meetings
*with our PI's. At the time of award, we set up a meeting to discuss the
*terms and conditions of the award, how to process documents within
*the
*university, cost-sharing, time and effort issues etc. We do a more
*extensive interview with new PI's and give them a small "handbook" on
*How
*do I? (appoint personnel to my grant, buy equipment ...etc.) The PI signs
*off on his "Notice of Award" form that he has received the award
*document &
*conditions and understands and accepts the grant and its conditions.
*This
*has proved very successful and helpful to our PI's, as well as providing
*us
*with documentation at the time of audit that our PI's are informed. Would
*anybody be interested in hearing more about this? Claudine Riccillo
