Re: Federal Register and Commerce Business Daily searching Charlie Hathaway 29 Sep 1998 09:02 EST

Searching the Federal Register is fairly straightforward.
Got to
http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/aces/aces140.html
and type into box (remember " " around phrases).
Better to restrict your search by date or announcement type. Hits are
listed by relevance.

CBD is bit more involved, but if you use the Simple Search:
http://cbdnet.access.gpo.gov/search1.html
it works about the same. Note that with CBD, the default search will be
only of the last 15 issues. Choose archive for earlier stuff. ALSO...note
that the CBD is huge and you may be better off using the Fielded Search:
http://cbdnet.access.gpo.gov/search2.html
provided you have some idea of where your items of interest are located.
Hint: For research type of contracts, try "Browsing" (another screen) for
US Gov Procurements-Services (class codes A, B, R, U). this is what InfoEd
searches for their SPIN database. Titles are displayed for the last 15
days and you can use your "Find" command to search for words on the page.
