DIRECTOR, RESEARCH & SPONSORED PROGRAMS ACCOUNTING
UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME
The University of Notre Dame is seeking an experienced professional whose
strengths include planning, communication, and administration to direct its
Research & Sponsored Programs Accounting Department. Reporting to the
University Controller, the Director is responsible for the administration
of all federal and non-federal grants and contracts awarded to the
University. As part of this responsibility, the Director determines the
level of planning efforts and policy changes necessary to comply with
changes in federal regulations, works with academic leaders to implement
these changes, and assists faculty and the Office of Research professional
staff in planning efforts related to grants and contracts. The Director
leads the development of the Indirect Cost Proposal, manages efforts to
ensure compliance with Cost Accounting Standards, and creates an
environment within the department which promotes staff involvement and
continuing education.
Candidates should be persuasive communicators who understand the
complexities of working in a University environment and can forge
cooperative relationships and rapport with staff and faculty at all levels.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA
certification, and at least five to ten years of relevant accounting
experience with emphasis in grants and contracts. While not required, an
MBA degree is strongly preferred. Additional qualifications include the
level of management and staff development skills commensurate with at least
two years of supervisory experience. Candidates should be skilled in
analytical review and planning, with the ability to synthesize complex
regulations, make sound decisions, and effectively implement policies.
Superior presentation skills and extensive working knowledge of pertinent
OMB circulars and IRS regulations are expected. Salary is commensurate
with qualifications and experience. The search is to begin immediately and
