Federal supplementation on NRSA -Reply Jennifer Morgan 09 Sep 1998 16:12 EST

Mary-
It's military... don't ask, don't tell!!

Actually you are only responsible for reporting money that comes to the
trainee through your institution, therefore the military money would not
count.

I have an interesting question and wonder if this has come up at any of
your institutions. On an NIH training grant, stipend supplementation from
federal sources is not allowed.

What happens if there is a fellow who is in the reserves, getting paid
with
Federal monies? Is this considered federal supplementation? It has
nothing to do with the fellow's research training and she wants to remain
in the air force reserves when she begins her fellowship. Is this a
problem?

Thanks for any and all help.
- Mary
