DIRECTOR OF GRANTS AND CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATION
The SDSU Foundation is seeking an energetic and multi-talented research
administrator to fill the key management position of Director of Grants
and Contracts Administration. The Foundation administers approximately
$100 million in sponsored projects on behalf of San Diego State
University. Sponsors are primarily federal agencies, but also include
many state, local, and private agencies and foundations. The Director
supervises a staff of 30 in providing postaward services to faculty
principal investigators. The Director interacts with high-level
university officials on research administration matters, provides
support to the technology transfer function, and serves as the
contracting officer (with signature authority) for the SDSU Foundation.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field and a
minimum of 5 years of management-level experience in the following
areas: Management of sponsored programs in a university setting; strong
technical expertise in grants and contracts, especially federal;
interfacing with auditors; interaction with funding agencies; and
application of computer technology to the administration of sponsored
programs. Experience with BANNER Finance is especially desired. Must
have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as
demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
