ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, SPONSORED PROGRAMS Mississippi State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director, Sponsored Programs. The Assistant Director will supervise day to day operations of the Office of Sponsored Programs. The position will have a specific, targeted area of the university upon which to provide contracting officer support in addition to general personnel management, organizational needs assessment, policy implementation and Electronic Research Administration process development. Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to: review proposals submitted by faculty, staff, and administrators in targeted areas of the university; ensure that the proposals are in compliance with and follow polices and procedures established by Mississippi State University and sponsoring agencies; negotiate on behalf of the university, grants, and contracts awarded; prepare subcontracts and consulting agreements, non-fiscal monitoring of active grants and contracts; participate on appropriate committees and project teams; supervise database management and activity-reporting functions; and, coordinate all aspects of Electronic Research Administration with various administrative units. Supervise team of contracting professionals and manage day to day office operations. Report to the Director of Sponsored Programs Administration and act on the Director's behalf as required.. Qualifications: The qualified applicant must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) and a minimum of 4 years' experience in a sponsored programs or related office. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong supervision experience, strong computer skills, and experience in work settings requiring multiple assignments and managing priorities are essential. Knowledge of federal contracting regulations and policies is required. Extensive knowledge and experience in various regulatory areas (i.e., IRB, IACUC, etc.) is also required. Specific experience in Oracle-based data management is highly desired, as is experience in SCT Banner, MIT COEUS and/or Oracle Browser or similar utilities.
