Director, Office of Technology Transfer

The Office of Research at Emory University  is seeking candidates for
the position of Director of the Office of Technology Transfer.

The Director is responsible for the evaluation, marketing and
licensing of Emory University proprietary intellectual property
rights. The Director will stimulate disclosure of inventions from
faculty, evaluate commercial potential of disclosures, develop and
implement commercialization strategies including marketing to
applicable industry segment, and drafting and negotiating license
agreements with industry partners. The Director is expected to develop
strong relationships with private industry. The Director will report
to the Vice President for Research. The Director will supervise a
staff consisting of two Licensing Associates, a Licensing Assistant
and two administrative support staff members.

Qualifications: Graduate degree in business, law or technical
discipline, combined with undergraduate degree in life science. An MBA
or JD combined with undergraduate degree in life science is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years business experience in life science industry,
and/or in technology transfer operations in academia with demonstrated
broad technical knowledge of life sciences. Proven marketing and
negotiation experience. Knowledge of: intellectual property contract
negotiation, technology transfer, research administration,
entrepreneurship and business development. Demonstrated experience in
intellectual property, contract negotiation, technology transfer,
research administration, entrepreneurship and business development.
Demonstrated understanding of the academic environment.
