Our hospital (private, NFP, no university affiliation) has a research
day for residents and fellows prior to 'graduation'. Usually a full
day in the first week of June. This year, more than 2 dozen
residents/fellows presented their research efforts. Topics ranged
from the obligatory chart review to some fairly cutting edge gene
transfer studies. A fair number of the faculty and independent
physicians who play an active role in the resident program will at
least make an appearance. Few stay for the entire day.
Hope that helps.

Are there other teaching hospitals or research institutes out there
doing
something similar? How is it received and regarded by the faculty?
