LIAISON OFFICER
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
In this role, you will provide general advice and counsel to UCR faculty
and staff in patent matters related to securing, developing and disposing
of intellectual property; advise and assist faculty and other researchers
to prepare invention disclosures; act as UCR's liaison with UC's Office of
Technology Transfer, assist faculty and others to locate potential
industrial sources of support, foster research collaborations and
technology transfer opportunities; review and approve proposals and
negotiate contracts and material transfer agreements with industrial
sponsors. Will also coordinate and collaborate with other UCR offices and
entities, e.g. Office of New Initiatives and Economic Development,
Bio/Technology Center and others on contractual and technology transfer
requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science degree with an advanced degree in a related science,
business or law, or equivalent experience with strong emphasis on science;
experience in negotiating, knowledge of University and Industry practices;
and knowledge or some experience in intellectual property law and knowledge
and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties
assigned to the position. Hired applicant must successfully pass a
background check through the U.S. Department of Justice.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong oral and writing skills, knowledge of science, law and business
applied to technology assessment arising from funded research; ability to
work effectively with a broad range of constituents including University
faculty and staff, research sponsors and industrial representatives;
knowledge and respect for policies, procedures, and practices related to
federally and other funded research activities and intellectual property,
its production and transfer.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
