Lowell Research Foundation:
Manager, External Funding
Assume overall responsibility for proposal development and the
management of grants & contracts within the Research Foundation.
Provide direction on general pre-award and post-award activities,
ensuring that the needs of the Principal Investigators and external
funding staff are met. Assist the Associate Director with specific
projects related to the promotion of external funding and research
administration at UMASS Lowell.
Bachelor's degree required. Concentration in science or engineering
preferred. Minimum of eight years of experience in pre- and post-award
research and at least four years in a supervisory position is required.
Knowledge of Federal and non-Federal regulation and operation policies
of sponsored research, including OMB Circulars A-21, A-110 and A-133,
PHS grants policy statement and all FARs. Knowledge of Microsoft Word
and Excel is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of
organizational skills and leadership abilities are required. Must have
the ability to promote teamwork and a strong customer service ethic to
supervised personnel. Must have the ability to work in a fast paced
environment with strict deadlines and be able to manage multiple

Grants and Contracts Administrator
Responsible for administration of sponsored project grants and contracts
for several university departments. Duties include budget review and
budget preparation assistance to faculty and staff; negotiations with
sponsors of contractual terms; interpretation and implementation of
sponsor and university regulations; liaison with sponsors;
troubleshooting problems on sponsored projects.
Bachelor's degree required, with 3-5 year's experience in research
administration. Knowledge of Federal and Non-Federal regulations and
operation of policies of sponsored research, including OMB Circulars,
A-21, A-110 and A-133, PHS grants policy statement and all FARs.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Strong interpersonal

Funding Specialist and Information Officer
The Funding Specialist and Information Officer provides support to
relevant faculty, staff and graduate students in matters related to the
identification and dissemination of funding source information. The
essential duties of this position are: monitoring the funding programs
and policies of federal and private sponsors and effectively
disseminating that information; designing training for faculty and
administrators in the use of web resources, including on-line databases
and federal agency pages; and directing the development and expansion of
the Research Foundation web site. The successful candidate will design
and implement a plan to bring funding news and grant management
assistance to the desktops of faculty and administrators. Bachelor's
Degree, one to three years of experience in research administration,
excellent abilities in writing and speaking, and expertise in electronic
communications, datebases, and using the WWW. CODE: FSIO
