Director of Sponsored Programs
Southeast Missouri State University
Primary Responsibilities
· Develop, obtain, and monitor externally funded grants and contracts
awarded to the University
· Promote research by assisting faculty and staff to obtain external funding
from local, state, and federal agencies
· Provide technical assistance in proposal preparation, submission, and
project administration phases
· Disseminate to faculty and staff information on potential funding sources
and communicate research information to the general university community
· Provide faculty and staff opportunities for skill and knowledge
development via workshops and training sessions
· Develop and maintain productive relationships with public funding
agencies, private philanthropic organizations, and businesses
· Management of grant and contract negotiation and coordination with
individuals responsible for post award activities
· Provide oversight for federal, state, and university compliance issues
related to sponsored programs
· Serve as Ex-Officio member of the Grants and Research Funding Committee
Required Qualifications
· Earned Doctorate
· Administrative experience in grants office related to sponsored research
in higher education
· Demonstrable record of grants/contracts procurement
· Knowledge of grant accounting practices and budgetary requirements of
federal agencies
· Ability to work with faculty from diverse disciplines
· Knowledge of university administrative and governance processes
· Strong computer skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrated understanding of and strong commitment to customer service
orientation
· Demonstrated understanding of and strong commitment to cultural diversity
Preferred Qualifications
· Successful administrative experience at director-level (or higher) of
research office within an institution of higher learning
· Ability to supervise a professional staff
· Strong background in statistical analysis
Minimum Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience. In
addition, the University provides an excellent benefits package.
