CPMC Research Institute
Research Facility/Safety Coordinator
June 2, 1998

This position, reporting to the Vice President, Research, encompasses
management of portions of the five separate buildings, and equipment,
utilized by the CPMC Research Institute, responsibility for all CPMCRI
safety programs, including chairing the Research Safety Committee, safety
training programs, emergency response, and hazardous materials oversight,
as well as support for research-related renovation/construction projects at
CPMC.  All work is done in close collaboration with existing CPMC
departments, including facilities and engineering, as well as the CPMC
Safety Officer.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a combination of
education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a scientific
discipline and two (2) years of laboratory experience involving the use of
chemicals and radioisotopes.  Superb interpersonal skills are essential,
including verbal and written communications and negotiating ability.
Experience with computers, including word processing and database software,
preferably Mac-based, is sought.  Prior experience with facilities
management and regulatory affairs related to laboratory safety and
operations is preferred.
