Frankly, even though it takes up extra space, I prefer having the
original message in the response.  It gets much too confusing to jump
back to another message to figure out exactly what was asked.

The daily summary format for messages is very helpful.  It would be

succinct if those of us who respond to messages would disable the
email
feature which automatically copies the text of the original message
into
the response.  For those using Netscape, you can change this under
Options   Mail Preferences  Composition   then remove the check from
the
box marked automatically quote message when responding.
