SCIENTIFIC WRITER
There is a regular full-time position available for a Scientific Writer at
The Jackson Laboratory. Duties include preparing institutional grant
proposals to federal agencies, peer-reviewed applications to private
granting agencies, and technical writing for other departments as needed.
The Scientific Writer will participate in all stages of proposal
preparation and must be able to produce original writing, synthesize
diverse pieces of writing into consistent themes, and critically edit. The
successful applicant must have a good sense of strategy, excellent
persuasive writing skills, and the ability to work independently as well as
collaboratively with scientific staff and departments at TJL. The writer
will frequently need to meet tight deadlines, work on several projects
simultaneously, and must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. A
Ph.D. in biological sciences is required.
The Jackson Laboratory is one of the world's foremost centers for mammalian
genetics research. Located in Bar Harbor, Maine, the lab is adjacent to
Acadia National Park. Mountains, ocean, forests, lakes, and trails are all
within walking distance.
