I am very interested in hearing from others who have
struggled with internal seed grant competitions;
specifically, how you ensure that scientist, artists,
humanists, and educators are all treated fairly.
Our guidelines are really geared towards the scientific
researchers. We state that we expect external funds to be
sought after the internal grant expires. When we strictly
adhere to the guidelines, it is diffcult to grant an
award to a professor of English or even worse, an music
professor. Their work is so different and external funding
so limited.
Any advice, samples of guidelines, or comments are welcome.
