Boston Medical Center is pleased to announce the following postion:

Research Technician

Position Summary: Under the supervision of a doctor and the research
supervisor, the research Technician is responsible for obtaining, culturing,
and preparing products from cells derived from human and experimental animal
tissue.

Essential Job Responsibilities:  Research Technician is responsible for
obtaining fat and other tissues from humans and experimental animals,
including travel to other institutions to do so, isolating and culturing
preadipocytes and other cells from the tissues, storing cells, preparing
protein, RNA, DNA, and other products (from the cells to laboratories),
maintaining inventories, supplies, records, and accounts concerning this
project. Other duties as required. Will perform work of other personnel in the
laboratory when they are absent, will assist in preparing photographs, figures
and other materials for publications and presentation. Must be able to work
flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Position Requirements: Bachelors degree required, preferably in laboratory
science. Specialized skills in cell culture methods and sterile technique and
in animal handling and dissection are required. Position involves exposure to
radioactive isotopes, chemical infection hazards, and use of laboratory
equipment.

OSHA Category 1: Use of personal protective equipment, including masks, face
shields, gown, safety hood, and radiation monitoring devices are required for
specific tasks. Personal equipment is provided and must be worn when there is
a reasonable anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood, body fluids,
human tissue, radiation, and hazardous chemicals.
