Using the Acrobat Exchange software, you can create editable areas on
the forms that your users can type into, save the completed form, print
out. I believe you can also do more powerful things (like make those
same fields populate a database when the user does an electronic submit
via the web), but I haven't experimented with that aspect. The fill-in
forms are really powerful because all users (Mac, Evil Empire (uh, I
mean Microsoft), Unix) can complete them on the computer. And from the
webmaster's perspective it's very cool -- I only make one form, and I'm
pretty sure it will work for everybody, and I don't have to answer the
"How do I download?" questions. I'm in the process of revamping our
whole forms section to include only editable-PDFs.
