We have recently reorganized the Research and Service Grants Administration
(RSGA) Department at Boston Medical Center. Our goal is to create a more
efficient and customer focused organization. We are in the process of filling
a variety of positions within our department and are seeking qualified
applicants for the following positions:
GRANTS AND CONTRACTS MANAGER, RESEARCH PROGRAMS (Job code EM-GCM)
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Grants and Contracts Manager will assume overall
responsibility for all research grants, contracts and agreements within RSGA.
Provide direction for the Senior Grants and Contracts Specialists (SGCS) and
Grants and Contracts Specialists (GCS) on general pre-award and post-award
activities, ensuring that the needs of Principal Investigators and support
staff are met. Assist the RSGA Director with specific projects related to the
promotion of research and research administration at Boston Medical Center.
Work with the Director of RSGA and the Principal Investigators to proactively
promote research programs at BMC to the research community at large and help
Principal Investigators identify opportunities for groundbreaking research.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required, with Master's degree in business or
health administration preferred. Minimum of eight years of experience in pre-
and post- award research grant administration and at least four years in a
supervisory position are required. Knowledge of Federal and Non-Federal
regulations and operation policies of sponsored research, including OMB
Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133, OASC-3, PHS grants policy statement, and all
FARs. Strong computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Access or other relational database
preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of organizational skills
and leadership abilities are required. Must have the ability to promote
teamwork and a strong customer service ethic to supervised personnel. Must
have strong oral and written communications skills. Must have the ability to
work in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines and be able to manage
multiple priorities.
PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (Job Code EM - PDM)
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Proposal Development Manager serves as the main resource
for Principal Investigators, Department Managers and sponsors for all issues
related to proposal development and grant writing. Assist the Director of RSGA
with specific projects related to proposal development, grant writing and the
promotion of research and research administration at Boston Medical Center.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required, with Master's degree in English or
health administration preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in pre-award
grant administration and/or proposal development or grant writing. Some
knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements preferred.
Strong computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is
required. Knowledge of Microsoft Access preferred. In depth knowledge of
desktop publishing software also required. Strong interpersonal skills, a high
degree of organizational skills and leadership abilities are Required. Must
have the ability to work in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines and
be able to manage multiple priorities.
GRANTS AND CONTRACTS SPECIALIST (Job Code EM - GCS)
GENERAL SUMMARY: Grants and Contracts Specialists (GCS) will be responsible
for pre- and post-award grants administration and accounting duties. GCS will
be grouped into teams and each team will be responsible for the administration
of either service grants or for the basic, applied and clinical research
grants of one or more departments. GCS will serve as the appropriate Principal
Investigator's contact for all grant and contract administration and
accounting functions. While an individual GCS may focus primarily on pre-award
or post-award administration, all GCS's will have a working knowledge of both.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance or
Business or Health administration, with 3 - 5 year's experience in pre-award
and/or post-award administration also required. Knowledge of Federal and Non-
Federal regulations and operation policies of sponsored research including OMB
Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133, OASC-3, PHS grants policy statement, and all
FARs. Strong computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Access or other relational database
preferred. Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment with
