POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE:  CONTRACT AND GRANT ADMINISTRATOR

CATEGORY:               Associate Staff

POSITION DESCRIPTION:   Reporting to the Manager/Team Leader, this=20
position has responsibility and involvement in all aspects of Preaward=20
Contract and Grant Administration, including assisting faculty in=20
preparation and processing of applications, ensuring compliance with=20
agency and institution policies; drafting (when necessary) and=20
negotiating terms and conditions on grant awards, contracts,=20
subcontracts, clinical testing agreements, and material transfer=20
agreements; participating in the development and implementation of=20
policies and procedures; maintaining up-to-date knowledge and expertise=20
in federal/state/private agencies=B9 regulations and policies, and stayin=
g=20
abreast of new laws and OMB circulars which affect sponsored program=20
activities.  Position requires knowledge and experience of preaward=20
research administration in an academic setting, preferably health=20
science center.   Strong communication and interpersonal skills=20
essential.  Ability to execute multiple tasks and respond to multiple=20
demands as part of a team; skill in problem solving; and ability to=20
consider multiple alternatives.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor=B9s degree, preferably in business administratio=
n=20
or related field and three years of related research and grants=20
administration; or advanced degree preferably in law or business=20
administration and one year of related research and grants=20
administration.   Strong negotiation skills, legal background, and=20
computer experience in a MAC environment preferred.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
