DIRECTOR OF GRANTS AND CONTRACTS The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth seeks a Director for the Office of Grants and Contracts who will lead the University to a higher level of extramural funding. The Director has overall responsibility for the administration of research and sponsored programs for the university, provides leadership in developing and implementing organizational policies, is a member of the academic council, and reports directly to the Provost . The Director works closely with campus and UMass system officers to administer externally funded research and sponsored programs including pre-award and post-award assistance to faculty, and oversight of institutional compliance with government and foundation regulations including human subjects, commercial ventures, invention disclosures and intellectual property. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, located on the Southeastern Massachusetts coast is a comprehensive university with close to 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students. As the only public University in the region it is committed to the educational, economic, social and cultural advancement of the region. The university comprises five colleges: Business and Industry, Engineering, Nursing, Visual and Performing Arts, and the College of Arts and Science. In addition the University houses the Center for Marine Science, Center for Portuguese Studies, Center for Gerontology, The School Health Institute and a number of other centers and partnerships. Faculty research and grant awards have doubled over the past five years and the University is poised for greater development in this area. (www.umassd.edu) The successful candidate will have excellent communication, supervisory and managerial skills, familiarity with electronic data management systems, a demonstrated record of achievement in the administration and negotiation of a full range of grants and contracts in an academic setting, vision and creativity for developing new directions and resources for funding. An earned doctorate is strongly preferred, master's degree required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with background and experience.
