At Middlebury College (small liberal arts college), grant activity for
"faculty grants" (initiated by individual faculty members to support their
scholarly activities, as opposed to "institutional" grants to support
institutional mission) remained constant from FY 96 to FY 97 (no
significant change in proposals, number of faculty involved, number of
awards, or dollars awarded).
