Emeritus Professors Nancy Borders, M.B.A. 09 Jul 1997 11:14 EST

We have an emeritus professor who wants to submit a proposal to NIH.
Since we have no precedence for this, we are interested in knowing if
other institutions allow emeritus professors to submit proposals. If
so, how are they listed on the budget page of the NIH application?
Appointment type? Effort? Obviously the PI's position at the institution
would have to be explained in the budget justification, but is their
appointment type 12? To figure the percent effort, do you consider a 40
hour week and then ask them how many hours a week they will be working on
 this project?

 Thanks.
