Position Announcement Kansas State University is seeking qualified applicants for a Public Service Administrator I in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs PreAward Services. The working title for this position is Grants and Contracts Administrator. Reporting to the Director of PreAward Services under the Vice Provost for Research, this position has responsibility and involvement in all aspects of preaward grant and contract administration, including assisting faculty in the preparation and processing of proposals for extramural support, budget development, ensuring compliance with agency and institutional policies; review, drafting, and negotiating, along with acceptance of terms and conditions of grant awards, contracts, subcontracts, clinical testing agreements, and material transfer agreements; maintaining up-to-date knowledge and expertise in federal/ state/ private agency regulations and policies, and staying abreast of new laws and OMB circulars which affect sponsored program activities. Consults with individual faculty, department heads, deans, attorneys and administrators from various campus units and serves as a University representative to funding agencies. Position requires knowledge and experience of preaward administration in an academic setting, along with experience working in a computerized environment with standard computer spreadsheet and word-processing software. Bachelors degree, preferably in business administration or related field and one year of related experience in grant and contract administration required; additional experience may be substituted for the education requirement. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Candidates should have the ability to execute multiple demands as individual effort and as part of a team; skills in problem solving; and the ability to consider multiple alternatives.
