In preparation for Electronic Research Administration, we are discussing
ways to streamline proposal submission and institutional prior approval.
One of the measures that has been brought up is streamlining the routing
process by eliminating the requirement for the signature of the chair
and/or dean (unless cost-sharing is being requested).  Is anyone else
planning to go this direction?  If so, how will the deans and/or chairs be
kept informed of research activity? How are prior approvals for no-cost
extensions and re-budgets handled?  What other changes do you envision?
