Re: Adjunct Appointments sandy schulte 19 May 1997 10:06 EST

Adjunct appointments can be problems, since often the adjuncts don't
have other jobs and offices.

We use titles such as Research Professor (subject to PTR) and
Research Scientist (subject to department head or institute director
evaluation) for these individuals.

They WILL require department head and secretarial time, and would
like to be treated like regular faculty, including listing in the
catalog.

Think about whether they will have a vote on departmental committees
(as do our in residence appointments, who mimic faculty except for
their soft money status).

They can also accidently "get" tenure after 7 years if they look and
act like faculty.

Guidelines are required.
