POSITION OPENING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN

The Office of Sponsored Projects at The University of Texas at Austin
announces the availability of a new Grants and Contracts Specialist
position available immediately.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS VACANCY:  Bachelor's degree in business or
public administration, social sciences, or a technical/ scientific field.
Three years of experience in the preparation, processing, and negotiation
of research grant and contract proposals.  Experience with sponsored
projects and negotiation of sponsored projects' awards.  Experience using
standard office machines, including calculator or adding machine, and
personal computer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  More than three years of experience in
university pre-award contracts and grants management.  One year of
experience in the negotiation of sponsored research agreements or
contracts, or subcontracts with industrial organizations.  Demonstrated
knowledge of UT Austin intellectual property policies.  Demonstrated
knowledge of federal grant or contract regulations.  Demonstrated
well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
Proven attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Provides contractual services and guidance to faculty
and research staff to enable them to secure research funding.  Reviews and
negotiates sponsored research agreements, contracts, subcontracts with
primarily industrial organizations, including terms and conditions relating
to intellectual property, publication rights, and other contractual
matters, in accordance with UT Austin policy.  Interprets University
administrative procedures regarding sponsored research activities and
applies appropriate regulations when necessary.  Personally meets with
representatives of sponsoring agencies and organizations, sometimes
on-site, to finalize terms of contracts and/or agreements.  Participates in
the proposal and award review and negotiation for special federal and state
programs.

Monthly Salary is $2552 or more, depending upon qualifications, plus
