Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs Preaward Services The UNC Research Corporation (UNCRC) is seeking a dedicated and highly qualified person to serve as the Assistant Director and to provide preaward services. UNCRC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that serves to assist with research and scholarly activities at the University of Northern Colorado. The University now averages about $7 million in external funding for projects. The Assistant Director will: have direct oversight of some personnel; monitor and maintain files on resources; stay current and update the research community on changes in sponsor policies and procedures; and have responsibility for resource searches conducted within the corporation and by faculty members. The position also has responsibility for preaward services and requires extensive knowledge of governmental and private funding resources, especially resources available through the federal and state Departments of Education. The ability to teach workshops on proposal development is desirable. A Baccalaureate degree is required, but a Master's degree is preferred. Applicants must have at least three years of research administration experience in an academic setting, with an emphasis on preaward administration. Salary will be commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, 12 month appointment with a starting date of June 1, 1997, or as soon as negotiated. They should also submit a letter of interest with a one to two page statement of how their experiences and qualifications can (1) contribute to the internal administrative management of the UNCRC (2) promote preaward services to the university,and (3) help increase external funding.
