The guidelines of the specific program offering should specify the
percentage of shared cost. Usually it will be 50-50 on cash purchase
of the equipment. The hardware is listed on the institution inventory
as purchased with partial cost by federal money and a program of
equipment use may include shared time and other supplies and services
which enhance the value to the supporting agency of placing the
purchase grant with your institution. It makes them look good by
leveraging additional support for their grant dollar in the service
