Development, and Grad. Studies' home page
(http://www.odu.edu/~acadaff ).  "Identify Research Partners" is the
first link on the page.  You can search faculty expertise by keyword,
last name, or department.  On the Research and Grad. Studies page,
you will also see options to "submit a faculty profile..." and "edit
a previously submitted profile".  However, these are password
protected (to keep every websurfer from adding himself/herself to our
database or changing existing profiles).

The database was created to merge seemlessly with the COS database as
well as with a similar database that only contains information on
Virginia university faculty.  ODU will join COS in July, 1997.  At
that time, we will upload the faculty data directly.  The faculty
will not have to upload profiles to the COS system themselves.

The current system contains datafields for basic personal info (name,
address, email, phone, etc.,), keywords, a narrative description of
research interests, and links to personal www pages.

The system is being edited now to include a narrative list of recent
publications, recent grant awards, patents, languages, degrees
received, and employment history.  These fields are requested by COS
but not by the Virginia system.  We believe that ODU's system will be
more useful if these fields are included.

I worked with two undergraduate students from ODU's computer science
department to create this system.  The credit goes to them.
