Assistant Vice President for Economic and Technology Development
Ohio University is seeking an experienced professional to direct the
university's technology commercialization activities including the
identification and management of the university's intellectual
property portfolio, and to support business development in
southeastern Ohio principally through the university's business
incubator, the Innovation Center. The individual assuming this
position will report to the vice president for research and graduate
studies and direct the staffs of the Office of Technology Transfer and
the Innovation Center. These units are responsible to: identify,
market, and manage the university's intellectual property; evaluate
inventions for patentability, manage the patent application process,
and seek licensing opportunities; and maintain a buisness and
technical consulting support network and activities for incubator
tenants and regional businesses.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will have an advanced degree
(PhD preferred); an entrepreneurial background or demonstrated
understanding of entrepreneurship and business development, and
technology commercialization experience; and an understanding of the
academic environment including a working knowledge of intellectual
property practices and procedures.
Salary commensurate with experience. Position is available
immediately.
