Where can I locate the figures for:
Total $ allocated to basic biomedical research for the last several years?
 For example, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995.

Is there a federal site that would help me?

Second question:
Regarding the idea that public funding of research can be cut, and the
private sector (pharmaceutical companies) will pick up the slack.  Does
anyone hold any statistics about specific types of research funded by
pharmaceutical cos., and whether that has changed to be more
product-oriented?
