Assistant Director for Sponsored Programs -  The Office of Sponsored
Programs at the Institute of Food and  Agricultural  Sciences, University
of Florida invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of
Sponsored Programs.  The Assistant Director will report directly to the
Director of Sponsored Programs and responsibilities will include:
negotiation of research, training, and extension grants and contracts; 2)
provide information and guidance to faculty on funding sources, proposal
development, submission, and budget preparation; 3) will make decisions on
the release of funds on awards prior to receiving award notice; 4) approves
proposals for submission to extramural funding sources; 5) accepts grants
and contracts  for the institute; 6) establishes and maintains day-to-day
operations for sponsored programs; 7) daily interactions with schools,
colleges and departments serving as liaison between sponsor and various
university officials; 8) experience in technology transfer and university
policies concerning intellectual property.  Applicant should have a
Master's degree in area such as Business Administration or related fields
and two years of appropriate experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in same and
four years of appropriate experience.  Five years of progressively
responsible administrative work, two years of which must have been in a
sponsored research office and considerable knowledge of sponsored research
activities strongly preferred.  Salary will commensurate with experience.
 The Institute is the statewide system of agriculture and includes the
College of Agriculture, School of Forestry, Agricultural Experiment
Station, and Cooperative Extension Service.  Sponsored Research activities
have averaged $37m per year.  The Institute is a major unit of the State
