announces the availability of a new Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist
position in January, 1997
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS VACANCY: Bachelor's degree in business or
public administration, social sciences, or technical/scientific field.
Five years of experience in preparation, processing and negotiation of
research grant and contract proposals and awards. Experience using
standard office machines, includes calculator or adding machine, and
personal computer. Experience with sponsored projects and negotiation of
sponsored projects' awards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate or professional degree or
certifications, with an emphasis in contract or subcontract negotiation. At
least two years of experience in the negotiation of sponsored research
agreements or contracts, or subcontracts with industrial organizations.
Demonstrated knowledge of UT Austin intellectual property policies.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal grant or contract regulations.
Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work
independently. Proven attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide contractual services and guidance to faculty
and research staff to enable them to secure research funding. Review and
negotiate sponsored research agreements, contracts, and subcontracts with
primarily industrial organizations, including terms and conditions relating
to intellectual property and publication rights and other contractual
matters, all in accordance with UT Austin policies. Interpret University
administrative procedures regarding sponsored research activities and apply
appropriate regulations when necessary. Personally meet with
representatives of sponsoring agencies and organizations, sometimes
on-site, to finalize terms of contracts and/or agreements. Participate in
the proposal and award review and negotiation for special federal and state
programs.
Monthly Salary is $2901 or more, depending upon qualifications, plus
