CDROM databases Director of Grants & Sponsored Research 08 Jan 1997 11:35 EST

I use the CD-ROM OnDisc database and really like it.   I also have the CD
ROM FC Search.  The fields of interest/subject terms you can use are more
detailed than those listed in the 1996 Foundation Directory Index.  Plus
you can configure all sorts of search parameters--far better than doing
cumbersome index comparisons by hand.  You can also add notes on entries.

AASCU (American Association of State Colleges and Universities) has also
just put its Grant$earch on disc (available to members), and while I
haven't had much time to play with it, it looks pretty good.  I'd be
interested in hearing others' comments on the pluses and minuses of these
databases, too.
