From the responses I've heard so far, many of us are having the same
problem.  I've drafted a questionnaire and letter that I'm going to send out
to people who took the time to inquire about SMARTS, but never
established accounts.  I'll let you know if anything interesting comes out
of it.

With respect to your query about SMARTS, if you get any good ideas for
encouraging faculty to sign up for SMARTS, I'd like to hear them too.  We
started a subscription to the system in October and did a wide
distribution of information, but so far only a handful of faculty have put
their names in.
