The University of Maryland at Baltimore has a position open in its Office of Sponsored Programs for a Conflict of Interest Officer. POSITION TITLE: Conflict of Interest Officer POSITION DESCRIPTION: UMABUS Office of Sponsored Programs Administration, Academic Affairs has an immediate opening for an experienced Conflict of Interest Officer. Reporting to the Director, this position has primary responsibility for the day-to-day management of the campus Conflict of Interest (COI) Committee functions. Primary responsibilities include reviewing, preparing, processing, and tracking faculty membersU COI disclosures, ensuring compliance with federal and state conflict of interest regulations, promulgate, implement, and update institutional policies to comply with University, State and Federal regulations, develop and deliver training programs for faculty, administrators, and COI Committee members centered around a Conflict of Interest Manual, development of tracking and reporting system, and maintaining public records. Duties also include development and maintenance of electronic database of faculty research interests; and provision of online access to funding information, policies, agreements and forms. Position requires knowledge and experience in managing institutional committees (e.g. IRB/IACUC). Strong written and verbal communication skills essential, with capability to communicate directly with faculty and senior administrators. Ability to execute multiple tasks and respond to multiple demands; and skills in problem solving; and ability to consider multiple alternatives a must. QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a masters degree, preferably in the life or behavioral sciences or business administration and three years experience, or a bachelors degree and five years experience, is required. Ability to work independently, analyze complex, specialized and unique circumstances and applicable policies and regulations; exercise judgement within, and often in the absence of established procedures or guidelines. Experience with academic committee administration, such as IRB/IACUC. Strong negotiation skills, computer experience in a MAC environment, and experience in an academic, health science center preferred.
