Effectiveness John A. Finley 13 Dec 1996 03:33 EST

Our new VP for Research is casting about for ways our Sponsored
Programs Office can show whether what we do is effective. For
example, we post and send out to faculty tons of material--electronic
and otherwise--about new and existing funding possibilities. The VP
wants us to show how this is effective.

One might ask, "So what if you can't show that the Web Page, the
electronic grants bulletin board, the newsletters and all the other
announcements are producing written grant proposals? Do you
eliminate them?"

But of course, this all leads to the bigger question: "How DO we
show that what we do is effective?"

Any answers from out there in RESADM-Land?
