Hello all,

Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for
information on charging overhead to subcontracts when
they are the prime institution.  Since there was so much
interest in the results, I decided to post them to the
entire list.

Total institutions in survey            53
 The institutions who responded included private
institutions/public institutions/research
institutes/medical schools.  Duplicate responses from
institutions were eliminated.

Results:

1)  Institutions Using A-21 Methodology (o/h up to 25K):

 Using their on-campus rate             42 (79%)

 Using their off-Campus rate            3 (6%)

2)  Other methodologies                         8 (15%)

 These included charging no overhead to subs (4),
"whatever they could get", and other percentages of
either TDC or MTDC.

3)  As a note, for non-federal sponsors, 4 institutions
stated specifically they charge the full rate with no limits.
