Associate Provost for Research Development and Administration

Provides leadership and management direction in sustaining and enhancing the
environment for
research at the College and its professional schools. Advises the Provost and
faculty deans on
initiatives and management practices needed in this regard. Works directly, and
through other
institutional development functions, to expand and improve relationships with
external sponsors.
Directly oversees and responsible for the performance of several departments of
the College
involved in research support and administration. Advanced degree in a field
requiring in-depth
participation in an original research project, preferably with external
funding, and at least ten years
of experience in research administration; or the equivalent. In addition,
several years of tenure-track
faculty experience including substantial effort as a principal investigator and
a Ph.D are preferred.
Ability to communicate with external sponsors and the entire Dartmouth/DHMC
research
community to better understand and promote the interests of both. Experience in
the development
and implementation of institutional management practices for technology
transfer, clinical trials, and
similar external relationships. Familiarity with the mechanics and protocols of
governmental
