Grants Officer

The University of Georgia invites applications for the position of
Grants Officer.

The Grants Officer will serve as a member of a team of professionals
who provide university-wide leadership in the development and
administration of sponsored projects.  The position will report to the
Director of Sponsored Programs.

Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to: reviewing proposals submitted
by faculty, staff and administrators in targeted areas of the
university; ensuring that proposals are in compliance with procedures
established by the University of Georgia and the sponsoring agency;
negotiating, on behalf of the university, grants and contracts
awarded; preparing subcontracts, consulting agreements, etc.;
non-fiscal monitoring of active grants and contracts; and
participating on project teams and appropriate committees.

Qualifications:

The qualified applicant must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree
(master's degree preferred) and a minimum of  two years grant
administration experience in a sponsored programs or related office.
Excellent interpersonal skills required; supervisory skills and strong
computer skills with  proficiency in electronic research
administration desired.  Candidate must have experience in work
settings requiring multiple assignments and the ability to determine
and manage priorities.  Knowledge of federal contracting regulations
and policies is also required.

Annual base salary starts at  $29,643.  Starting salary will depend on
demonstrated qualifications and experience.  Benefits are competitive.
 The position is available November 11, 1996.  Applications will be
