MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY HAS THE FOLLOWING POSITION AVAILABLE
POSITION: Director for governmental relations
RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the President's staff, coordinate
institutional activities relating to governmental agencies and programs,
particularly on the federal and state level. Monitor governmental issues and
developments of significance to Marquette. Develop effective relationships
with government officials and staff, as well as with appropriate professional
organizations involved in governmental relations. Direct activities of any
professional lobbyists employed. Advise and assist Marquette personnel on
governmental programs, regulatory and reporting requirements, and grant
opportunities. Cooperate with all areas of the university in matters of common
concern, including strategic planning.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and several years experience in a similar
position in a comparable institution or as a lobbyist or staff person on the
federal and /or state level. Excellent personal skills required to work
effectively with governmental agencies and within the university. Familiarity
with the issues confronting private higher education preferred and a strong
commitment to the basic goals of Marquette as a Catholic, Jesuit institution
requires.
