POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT VICE PROVOST FOR RESEARCH OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY Oregon State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Provost for Research. This is a 12-month, 1.0 FTE appointment, with a collateral appointment at the rank of Professor in a department appropriate to the individual's background. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Vice Provost for Research is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and facilitation of all research activities at OSU, including sponsored research, various research centers and institutes, interdisciplinary research programs, and research of the Forest Research Laboratory, the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station, the Sea Grant and Space Grant programs, and the Research Office. In addition, the Vice Provost for Research represents OSU to funding agencies and foundations, to regional and national research consortia, and to Federal and State legislators. The Vice Provost has administrative responsibility for the Research Office, institutional research funds, research centers and institutes, and the Technology Transfer and Trademark programs for OSU. Oregon State University is a Land Grant, Sea Grant, and Space Grant university, and a Carnegie Class I Research University that receives approximately $135 million annually for sponsored research. We are seeking an individual who has a record of significant accomplishment in research, substantial experience in the administration of research programs, experience in dealing with funding agencies, and strong interpersonal skills. The individual must hold an earned doctorate and be tenurable within an academic unit of OSU. Experience dealing with Congress, familiarity with research compliance and intellectual property issues, a record of innovation and promotion of research programs, and a positive record in Affirmative Action are highly desirable.
