Independent Contractor vs. Employee: SRA Annual Meeting JIM SIMPSON 06 Sep 1996 19:10 EST

 Session

I am conducting a session at the upcoming SRA annual
meeting in Toronto which will address the distinction
between employees and independent contractors (aka
consultants). I plan to talk about the IRS tests for
distinguishing the two, and the tax traps and other problems
that befall those who mischaracterize employees as
independent contractors. Also, I will hand out a simple
model consultant agreement.

I want to try an experiment to see if I can make this session
more interactive and better tailored to the audience's
interests.

If you're considering attending this session (or know
someone who is), please send me a message in advance
with any special questions, problems, or issues you would
like me to address. Communicate with me by whatever
means you prefer. I'll do my best to respond to you during
the session.

Also, if you've had any noteworthy experiences (good or
bad) with independent contractors that you would like to
share with others, or problem-solve in a group setting, let me
know and I'll give you an opportunity to do so during the
meeting.

Thank you!
