 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE:  CONTRACT AND GRANT ADMINISTRATOR

CATEGORY:               Associate Staff

POSITION DESCRIPTION:   Reporting to the Director, this position has
responsibility and involvement in all aspects of Preaward Contract and Grant
Administration, including assisting faculty in preparation and processing of
applications, ensuring compliance with agency and institution policies; drafting
(when necessary) and negotiating terms and conditions on grant awards,
contracts, subcontracts, clinical testing agreements, and material transfer
agreements; participating in the development and implementation of policies and
procedures; maintaining up-to-date knowledge and expertise in
federal/state/private agenciesU regulations and policies, and staying abreast of
new laws and OMB circulars which affect sponsored program activities.  Position
requires knowledge and experience of preaward research administration in an
academic setting, preferably health science center.  Strong communication and
interpersonal skills essential.  Ability to execute multiple tasks and respond
to multiple demands as part of a team; skill in problem solving; and ability to
consider multiple alternatives.

QUALIFICATIONS: BachelorUs degree, preferably in business administration or
related field and three years of related research and grants administration; or
advanced degree preferably in business administration or law and one year of
related research and grants administration.  Strong negotiation skills, legal
background, and computer experience in a MAC environment preferred.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
