One of the items in our annual report that I particularly like is a
highlight section. We contact each dean and ask them to pick a project
in their college that exemplifies a certain theme - last year it was
collaboration. We then contact the project director and get a one-two
page summary of the project. These are run at the beginning of our
report, following a brief explanation of our theme, and include
pictures.

The whole point is to give the deans an opportunity to by into our
reports and give some recognition and visibility to project/research
staff.
