Susan, when I set up our homepage a year ago I considered that issue,
talked to our computer folks, learned that even though it was feasible to
restrict access to our own faculty/staff it was complicated and clunky.  I
finally decided that it wasn't worth it for the few items which I really
wanted to be secure, so I left those off (whatever they were, can't
remember) and through everything else on the homepage for the whole
world to see.  Guess what--only a very small portion of the whole world
looked, it turned out to be a non-issue.
