 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE:
 GRANTS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST for Research Information Systems
 (AS# 5319)

CATEGORY:
 Associate Staff, full time, 12-month appointment

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Assume responsibility for the full-range of research  administration duties
for a number of sponsor agencies.  Areas of  responsibility include pre-
proposal, proposal, and related  problem-solving duties.  This position has
an emphasis on grants  development and state of the art information
management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Baccalaureate required and at least three years experience in similar work
demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility, and  ability to work
independently.

 Must have knowledge of Database use and management; internet  skills such
as:HTML, FTP, Gopher and e-mail; grant development processes;  Federal
regulations, principles of research grant and contract clauses,  and ability
to negotiate intelligently with external and internal  clientele.

 Should have excellent proficiency in communication skills,  interpersonal
skills, ability to reconcile differing viewpoints, and  ability to function
effectively in periodic crisis environments.

SALARY:
 Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
